imajbox® : all terrain mobile mapping solution on the roads of Haiti
Imajing delivered in late February 2012, two mobile mapping systems imajbox® to CNIGS (National Center for Geo-Spatial Information) in Haiti.
Equipment received by the CNIGS in partnership with the MTPTC (Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications), aim to improve general knowledge of Haitian roads.
Through ground surveys that will be achieved, CNIGS and MTPTC will inventory all roadside equipment (slides, signals, ...), build a reliable linear referencing system of their network, perform a visual inspection of roads and verges and integrate all these data in their management tools to optimize roadwork, budget and planning.
Surveys conducted during the training of CNIGS teams have demonstrated the fitnesse for purpose of the imajing equipment in this kind of environment: the diversity of areas to be surveyed (75% of roads are not paved) requires a robust equipement, resistant to dust and easy to implement on any type of vehicle.
According CNIGS teams, technical characteristics and flexibility of the imajbox® will also allow them to intervene quickly in the field to make an inventory of possible damage due to exceptional natural events.
The equipment was delivered through the Territorial Information Program for Sustainable Development (PITDD) funded by the Haitian state and the European Development Fund. This contract of supply equipment is managed by the company ACRI-ST.
Railways survey : Alstom extend the use of imajbox®
As part of its missions of railways infrastructure maintenance and with the implementation of ETCS (European Train Control System), Alstom wished to get their independence in collecting detailed and up-to-date data on the railways they operating on.
Alstom and imajing have conducted two railway survey in 2011: the first on the SNCB Railways in Belgium was to test the principle of the "opportunistic survey" (imajbox® can be installed in any locomotive in a few minutes) and the speed of acquisition and data processing.
The second, made in Spain was to confirm the ease of construction of linear referencing system (LRS) through imajview processing software for sharing between the different teams.
It also allowed to conduct audits of positioning accuracy by comparing the imajbox® data to those produced by surveyors on the same line.
These two projects consolidated Alstom's choice of imajing' survey technology.
Stability in the precision positioning also have been a key point in their decision making.
Belgian and Spanish entities of Alstom have each acquired an imajbox® solution and have just completed an acquisition campaign on the Turkish lines.
Immergis : road pavement analysis in Montpellier
In order to more easily prioritize its investment in road maintenance, the Montpellier Agglomeration wanted to have a decision support tool.
Imajbox solution presented by our partner company Immergis has convinced by its simplicity and its high technology, combined with the easy integration of acquired data in their GIS management tool (ESRI).
The CAM has assigned to Immergis, the diagnosis of their roads.
As a first step, the study consisted in a video survey of the entire road network, then performing an exhaustive and geolocated zones qualification for the state of road (based on the M6 LCPC method).
This inventory allowed to established a real record of their road conditions by exploiting fully the imajing technology: survey with imajbox® solution , data processing with imajview software, diffusion with imajnet® platform that can integrates data in Arcgis via a plug-in.
PureData: project of survey of bike and pedestrian ways
Puredata, Australian service company distributing imajing' solutions, is conducting a survey of bikeways and pedestrian paths in the city of Shepparton with the imajbox® technology.
Installed on a bicycle, the imajbox® can directly conduct a survey on ways to obtain accurate and reliable data on these large linear networks.
